Healthy & Social

Today I had Uni and a trip to Frankie & Benny's with Uni folk. Their food is very good but there is a severe lack of healthy options. I know most people like to treat themselves when out at a restaurant but I wanna be able to socialise with my friends that are able to eat what they like whilst sticking to a healthy eating style of my own. Their lighter choice spaghetti bolognese was very tasty and filled me up but in fairness the size of the portion was very small and if you didn't like the salad they added to the plate you'd only have enough food to fill a medium saucer.

A few healthy things I have picked up and utilised follow:

  • Always eat the accompanying salad first. You never know if it will taste nasty and if it does then at least you can enjoy your actual food's aftertaste. Another reason being you will feel fuller and let's face it if you've already eaten your bolognese the salad probably won't seem that appetising.
  • Walking is key to success, If you get the chance to walk some where then take it, if a friend is going into town from work/college then join them for a wander. You would perhaps spend that time sat down at a computer or perhaps chatting anyway.
  • Speed walk to and from work/college/uni. You'll save money on petrol/buses and you will notice the difference in your fitness levels after only a few weeks I find.
  • Snacks are good, but make sure they're healthy
  • Read the label on food, that salad you thought was a healthy option could contain more rubbish than a McDonald's burger.
  • Don't eat because others are eating. Just because it is 'lunch time' for others doesn't mean you need to eat then. Every one has their own routine and your body may not need food at that time.
Sorry if that was boring but I wanted to get down a few pointers as even I need reminding some times.

Hopefully these will help me drop the last stone I want rid of.
